The Cornish Home Brewery opened in 1885, and quenched thirsts in Richmond and beyond for many years. It was redeveloped into 37 apartments in 2008, and is a landmark building on the corner of Clay and Harrison Streets, about a block from VCU’s Siegel Center. The property’s historic features include old grain storage equipment, arched brick ceilings, and the original rail spur and loading dock used for deliveries—preserved among beautiful living spaces. Part of University Property since July 2020. All apartments include free high speed internet and are wired for DIRECTV. Customers pay for their electricity usage and $40 a month for water. On-premises resident parking subject to permit availability. Pets are permitted on first floor apartments only, subject to management approval, breed limitations, and additional fees.

Apartment Description:

Every apartment in Cornish Brewery is unique. This two bedroom/two bathroom apartment is rectangular in shape. Highlighting the industrial characteristics of this historic building, this apartment has high ceilings, smooth concrete floors, and copious amounts of exposed brick, offering a truly unique living experience.

Bookending the apartment are the two bedrooms. As you enter, on your left, up a couple of steps is bedroom 1 and its adjacent bathroom. Bedroom 1 features its own adjacent bathroom, sizable closet, and an antique roll-up garage door -- a special Cornish Brewery accent. Bedroom 2 is situated on the opposite side of the apartment. After crossing through the loft-like kitchen and living room space you will find yourself in the privacy of the second bedroom.
